From the President – January Perryscope

Winter is the time of year we should be attending stamp shows around the area or elsewhere. Whether you are a buyer or a looker, being at a show increases your love of the hobby.

There is always something of interest at a show whether it’s a stamp or cover for your collection, an exhibit to enjoy and/or to learn something about, or an opportunity to visit with friends or make new friends.

When I talk with collectors and dealers at out-of-state shows I am always pleased to hear the positive comments regarding the Garfield-Perry March Party, which will be 135 years old this year. Our show is a well-respected philatelic event, known for hosting great exhibits and outstanding support from wonderful and knowledgeable dealers.

I have listened to people discussing stamp shows and describing March Party as one of the three top annual shows in the United States. This causes me to smile and think of all the people who travel to Cleveland/Strongsville during the cold month of March to enjoy our great hobby and the March Party. The Garfield-Perry Stamp Club is fortunate to have a group of dedicated volunteers who give their time each year, and continuously throughout the year, to maintain the legacy of the March Party.

We are truly blessed to have Ken Nilsestuen and Rocco Caponi as co-chairs of our March Party. Please do your part to make March Party 2025, set for March 14-16, an even better event than our show in 2024.

Philatelically yours,
Howard S. Chapman
